4th Annual Meeting in Les Sables D’Olonne, France
The European Cellulose Insulation Association (ECIA) held its 4th Annual General Meeting in the beautiful city Les Sables D’Olonne by the Atlantic sea in September 26-29, 2017.
All of the major EU cellulose manufacturers gathered for the three-day event to discuss the important topics of the industry. The sustainability of insulation materials was a prominent feature highlighted by the presenters. EPD (Environmental Product Declaration), PEF (Product Environmental Footprint) and LCA (Life Cycle Analysis) are the acronyms of the future to measure the true ecological performance of the buildings. Cellulose insulation being one of the best insulation materials in terms of sustainability was the message from the Environmental experts.
In addition to Environmental aspects, breathable/moisture vapour diffusion open construction (AKA dynamic structure) was highlighted in relation to structural moisture safety and indoor air quality. The ability of Cellulose insulation, with its high degree of moisture vapour diffusion capacity, to prevent mould growth and sick-house-syndrome from occurring thus extending the life-span of a building, was shown in one of the presentations. As a conclusion of the event one can say that the future of the ecological building materials looks brighter than ever.
The meeting was hosted by Igloo France Cellulose SAS. Mr. Charles Kirié, the director of Igloo, was very pleased with the outcome of the event. ‘Our industry has grown its importance as one of the instruments in the battle against the climate change. It is great that more attention is paid to ecological performance of the insulation materials as well’, stated Mr. Kirié.
The new Board of the Directors for the next 2-year term is Mr. Marcel Bailey of CWA, Mr. Mojmir Urbánek of CIUR, Mr. Pasi Typpö of Termex and Mr. Wolfgang Lackner of CPH. “
